Visit Astrid Lindgren’s home

Villa Dahlia offers a unique opportunity to stay in a historic part of Stockholm, where you’re not only close to one of Sweden’s most beloved homes but also to the city’s rich cultural offerings and vibrant neighborhoods. Villa Dahlia is just a stone’s throw from the famous Dalagatan 46, where the beloved Swedish author Astrid Lindgren lived from 1941 until her passing in 2002.

Dalagatan 46

It was here that she wrote some of her most iconic works, including Pippi Longstocking, Mio, My Mio, and Ronja Rövardotter, which have become classics both in Sweden and around the world. It was also in this home that she wrote her powerful debate articles and the deeply engaged War Diaries.

Dalagatan 46 was not just a place for Astrid Lindgren’s work; it was also where her life, values, and independent worldview took shape. It was here that she responded to thousands of letters from her readers—an archive that is now part of UNESCO’s World Memory. The apartment has been preserved in the same condition as when Astrid Lindgren lived there, and the Astrid Lindgren Society offers public tours of the home, providing a unique insight into the author’s life and legacy.
