Azzedine Alaïa – Master of Couture
For the first time in the Nordic countries, the iconic designs of Azzedine Alaïa are being showcased at Sven-Harrys Art Museum. In partnership with the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation, the museum has received exclusive access to his archive, presenting forty haute couture creations from his prime. Born in Tunisia in 1935, Alaïa moved to Paris, where he quickly rose to prominence, becoming a legendary figure in the haute couture world thanks to his sculptural aesthetic and flawless craftsmanship.
Alaïa established his own fashion house and earned a reputation for seamlessly merging art and fashion. His creations, which were both sculptural and wearable, captivated top supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, as well as high-profile figures such as Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga.
